This tuesday morning, I decided to change for the
first time my rear brake pads. I have never ever do that because since 1995's, I used the original ones during
approximately 75000 kilometers. The old pads is shown on the left, and the new one on the right. I learnt how to
adjust brake Cantilevers. After this, I decided to test them on my bike during a short ride. I am pleased to bring
you in the Isere Valley in this Autumn season...

I started early in the afternoon. The weather forecast
announced shower for the next night. For the moment, it doesn't rain... Enjoy the ride along the river...
Thirteen kilometers after the start, I am fine. However
the bicycle lane is wet, I am alone on ths way. I test my rear brakes, they work fine. OK, let's continue and let's
see what happened...
Further on the bike path, the road service is working.
The road is littered with rubbish...
After twenty three kilometers ridden on the bicycle
lane, the sun seems to be not very far. Enjoy this Autumn ride...
Towards the west, the weather is cloudy. Here is the
road towards Tullins. In the background, between the two mountains, you can see "COL DE PARMENIE" and on your left "COL DE CHATAIN"...
There is nobody in the city center of Tullins...
After Tullins, the road climbs gently towards Renage.
I look at the cycle computer and I notice a drop of water...
I arrive in Renage. Can you see the church... ?
After Renage, the climb towards Rives explains you
how to use the front derailler! I enjoy my triple. I receive another drop of water... Is it the beginning of the
shower ?
I arrive in Beaucroissant by this little road, lined
by trees without sleeves... Yes, I am alone with my new brakes pads... I am not alone, because the rain is going
to arrive, more and more...
The weather is bad, but I enjoy this quiet road. I
remember to cycle here last summer under the sun...It didn't rain...
Forty kilometers after the start, I arrive in Izeaux.
If you have already ridden here, you probably noticed the church... I decide to come back home by "COL DE CHATAIN" instead
of "COL DE PARMENIE"
for a change...
The road continues to climb until Saint Paul d'Izeaux.
The road becomes wet. I am asking myself what I would do if I have a puncture... and I discover I FORGOT ... MY PUMP AT HOME. I remember
to remove it from the bike before changing brake pads, but I didn't put it again on the bike... I am afraid to
have a puncture under the rain. Perhaps I am going to regret to ride this afternoon...
But I rely on my tyres Schwalbe Marathon I use since
the end of the summer. They went to Col du Solude and rode the French Diagonale Brest-Menton and now, they are in front of the little church of Saint Paul d'Izeaux...
I continue to ride under the rain. I arrive in La
Forteresse where I find a bus shelter to get a picture from the church. "Col de Chatain" is not very
far, only four kilometers with a very little climb...
The climb is very wet. I passed here four or five
times and three were under the rain. The right picture has been taken with the help of my cap to avoid getting
wet my camera...
This an idea of the descent towards Morette and Tullins.
The descent was long, eight kilometers, under a little rain...
After Tullins, I arrive on the bicycle lane at the
end of the day. It was 05:00pm and the night is coming. I switch on my front lights and rear lights and I arrive
at home one hour later, completly wet. The brakes worked fine, even under the rain... Fortunately, I didn't need
my pump, but I attached it on the bike when I came back home...
